This document examines the potential impact of petroleum product marketing terminal (PPMT) wastewater discharges to aquatic environments to ascertain if there is a need for more stringent regulations. Wastewater discharges by PPMTs were evaluated, the constituents normally present in these waste streams were identified, and their possible aquatic impacts were investigated. It was determined that PPMT wastewater discharges pose little environmental risk; therefore, stricter regulations for PPMT dischargers are unwarranted.
