Applies to engineers' steel squares, commonly known as try-squares, in which the blade is fixed relative to the stock. It does not apply to adjustable squares of the type in which the blade is movable through the stock. It covers squares of three grades of accuracy, namely, Reference, Inspection and Workshop. The maximum sizes dealt with have inner lengths of blades of 12 inches in the case of Reference squares and of 24 inches in the case of Inspection and Workshop squares.
