1.1 This test method describes a procedure for the laboratory determination of the concentration of nitroaromatic and nitramine explosives in soil. The explosives involved in this test method are as follows: HMX (octahydro-1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetrazocine), RDX (hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitrol-1,3,5-triazine), TNT (2,4,6-trinitrotoluene), TNB (1,3,5 trinitrobenzene), DNB (1,3 dinitrobenzene), tetryl (methyl-2,4,6-trinitrophenylnitramine), and 2,4-DNT (2,4-dinitrotoluene).
1.2 All observed and calculated values shall conform to the guidelines for significant digits and rounding established in Practice D6026
1.2.1 The method used to specify how data are collected, calculated, or recorded in this standard is not directly related to the accuracy to which the data can be applied in design of other uses, or both. How one applies the results obtained using this standard is beyond its scope. (See Practice D3740)
