This document specifies one potential example of an Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) security interface specification. The A-POD specification is not the only possible implementation of a Separable Security Element (SSE) within the IIF standards, or for IPTV in general. The solution specified in this document achieves a physically separable security solution for IPTV that is harmonized with and backwards compatible to the existing unidirectional and multi-stream, CableCARD™ standards. As such, the solutions defined in this standard may not be the most efficient method for accomplishing IPTV separable security. This document defines the IP flows that are agnostic to the network technology of the service/network provider. Note that this specification was designed for compatibility with hybrid networks and cable systems, and therefore may not be compatible with all existing deployments of IPTV.
