This document presents best practices for video quality assessment to be used to select optimal profiles for multi bit rate video encoding in adaptive streaming applications. A profile is a specific set of bit rate, frame rate, and resolution settings. The methodology presented here is intended to achieve the best video quality on end-user devices. The methodology may be applied to both subjective and objective data sets. This document was produced in collaboration with the Video Services Forum (VSF).
