This part of the Code deals with the fire hazards associated with glazed areas in buildings. No systematic investigation has yet been made of such hazards in all aspects, but information available from a number of tests and experiments enables guidance to be given of relevance to many practical situations. The document describes first the effects of fire on the glazing materials themselves and on the materials in which they are framed, and defines glazing designs which can be expected to offer significant fire resistance. Separate consideration is then given to glazed areas in the external envelopes of buildings, where there is the possibility of the communication of fire to or from adjacent buildings, and to internal glazing, where the risk is mainly that of spreading fire within a building. In relation to internal glazing, recommendations are made on the storage of combustible goods and on the risks to people escaping from a fire.

All current amendments available at time of purchase are included with the purchase of this document.
