1. Scope

1.1

This Standard applies to electrical equipment that is intended for installation and use in accordance with the requirements of Part I of the Canadian Electrical Code, regardless of whether it is intended to be cord-connected or permanently connected, and which is required to be grounded by either Part I or Part II of the Code, or any other action of the Committees responsible for the Code; or which is constructed in a manner intended to ensure that it will be grounded when installed (even though grounding is not required).

Note:

The grounding specified in Clause 1.1 does not include grounding that is applied to equipment solely for purposes such as protection from lightning discharges and for preventing electrical noise from interfering with the function of communications a nd computer circuits.

1.2

This Standard includes provisions for certain details of construction and for testing procedures by which a certifying agen cy may be assured that equipment will comply with the Standard.
