1. Scope

1.1

This Standard applies to the construction and test of motors and generators for use in hazardous locations: Class I, Groups C and D, and Class II, Groups E, F, and G and gaseous mines; and for installation and use in accordance with the rules o f the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I and CSA Standard CAN3- M421, Use of Electricity in Mines. Note: The term ""machine"" throughout this Standard may be assumed to mean ""motor"" or ""generator"".

1.2

This Standard applies to machines intended for use in ambient temperatures of (a) -50 to +40?C for Class I, Groups C and D, and Class II, Groups E, F, and G; (b) 0 to +40?C for gaseous mines.
