The purpose of this technical committee report is to provide information on the current methodology for measuring the mass per unit area of deposits in boiler tubes (commonly called "deposit weight density" or DWD). The report describes the common methods of removing and measuring the deposits in boiler tubes. It also contains data collected by several laboratories during "round robin" testing of actual boiler tube samples using the common methods. All those involved in the recommendation, evaluation, and performance of DWD should find this report useful.
